Current concerns!!

Windows Support, Microsoft Support Centres!!!

Microsoft will never call you, Unless you have requested a call, which would mean you have been to the official website of Microsoft and sent them an email!

A number of our customers have been contacted this month, from a call centre in Oxford, telephone number 01865 521 065, I believe there are several numbers.

  1. They state" they are from Windows Support Outfit, who deal with slow computers and responses from your computer". They fix a few issues on your machine, which are possibly never there, or they may place a problem in the machine for future issues, making them seem efficient and on the ball for the next time they call you!
  2. The company mention that your "WINDOWS GUARANTEE has run out "? this is very suspect, because your Windows licence, be it Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 comes with your computer, it is a one off purchase, this software belongs to you, you have brought it, therefore you do not pay extra yearly or three yearly. This licence stays on your machine form the day you purchase it to the day your machine no longer runs, through malfunction or age!

The cost to one customer due to this "Windows Guarantee" was a staggering £160 pounds for 3 years cover.

He was telephoned on Friday to be told " their system has detected slow problems with his machine, he reported to me today that his machine is slow, however, I now know this is due to the above number 1, the customer is awaiting a telephone call this afternoon, where he going to announce to them he aware of their scam!!!

Email Chains

  • There are several variants of the chain mail floating around the Net. Some ask you to pass on an e-mail to several people, in return for which someone - often Microsoft's Bill Gates - will pay you hundreds of dollars for testing his new e-mail tracker (or something similar).
  • Others take the more traditional route, instructing you to pay a certain amount of money to the person at the top of a list, add your name at the bottom of the list and pass the e-mail to ten of your friends. When your name reaches the top, within a few days, you'll begin receiving a lot of money.

What to do!

  • Do not forward to your frineds
  • Do not send money ever
  • Report the emaill by sending it to your ISP internet service provide, Example, Virgin BT using abuse@
  • Send a copy to the Office of Fair Trading
